There has been some modifications made to some of the sprites to sort of 'prepare' for potential 'types' or other 'use case' scenarios. It's a good idea to have something like that in place just in case, so the sprites have been made a little 'taller'. Whilst you might not notice the change on first glance, but it is there. Biggest challenge i'm facing is now is creating 8 directions for all the 'elements' that is used to create the characters i have so far. A good majority of them are only in 4 directions only, so there is still a fair bit of work to be done, but at least half that work is already done at least, and what i can do is work on an 'element' and add that element every month to the Character Creator when i have completed it. So bit here, bit there and overtime it will build up a nice inventory of 'elements' and 'items' to build the characters to your liking. Now, I don't at this time have a set of what elements i'm going to add every month. My thinking is that when i create a new themed character, then those 'elements' will be added, but i havn't done a new character yet because i have been focussing on what i have done so far and had to re-work of few of those 'elements' to compensate for the changes i made.

One of the features of the Character Creator is having the ability to 'modify' or 'change' things on characters i have created. When i created characters i always tried to cater to most things and make them as versatile as i could, but it is an impossible job to try and do that as there will always be something that doesn't look the right fit. An example is, lets say i have a character that someone likes, but it has the Sword weapon. They would prefer it to have a Spear or something else. There's no way of changing that without doing some serious modifications, which can be a difficult thing to do, especially if the user is not an artist or don't have the software and know how. Another example is maybe the character does have the weapon of choice but doesn't like the clothing style, so again it becomes a potential modification nightmare and so on and so on and in the end the sprites will still have slightly rigid limitations despite my theme choices and characters. The point is they are MY choices, and ideally they need to be YOUR choices for YOUR project needs, so i'm hoping this Character Creator will help to solve that issue. This is why this month i chose to go with 'King' character from the 'Medievil' theme and give an insight to how this work within the Character creator itself. 

Here is what's been added: 

Head Types: * Light Skin Tone (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) * Medium Skin Tone (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) * Dark Skin Tone (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump)

Hair Types: * Hair Type 1 (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump)

Bodywear: * V-neck - Long Sleeve - Short (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) * V-neck - Long Sleeve - Meduim (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) * V-neck - Long Sleeve - Long (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) * V-neck - Long Sleeve - Extra Long (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump)

Overwear: * Robe - 2 trimmed - Extra Long (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump)

Headwear: * Crown - Type 1 (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump)

Legwear: * Trousers - Type 1 - Colour 1 (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) * Trousers - Type 1 - Colour  (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump)

Footwear: * Shoes - Type 1 - (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) * Boots - Type 1 - (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump) PRESETS: * King - Medievil - Type 1 (8 Directions/ Idle, Walk, Run, Attack, Hurt, Jump)

Example:

if you select 'Presets', it will bring up all the characters that will be available from what i have created so far based on their theme.


It will also show you what 'elements' have been used to create that character.(circled in red)
These 'elements you can now change to what your preference could be.


Here i have changed the boot element, and removed the crown. :) and yes he would be naked under the robe if you removed the trousers and legwear. lol.
Now try and imagine the same thing happening with other 'elements' such as Weapons, Shiel;ds and other Equipment. :)

Very concluding test on my end! The fact you make it 8 direction is super cool! I tried all features with no roadblocks, except after a while my character disappeared and I couldn't get it back. I tried to replicate the issue but couldn't.

wow, that's good news!

My assumption here about the character disappearing may have something to do with a 'surface' layer. which can be 'volatile'.  Maybe i could try adding a 'refresh' button. If you happen to try again and it happens again, try minimising it on the desktop and then bring it back again to see if that brings it back after a few seconds. :)
